"Basic"

Very basic accommodation but it is classed as a Hostel not a hotel. Clean but lacks the little touches that I normally expect for the price e.g. More than one pillow or tea and coffee facilities in the room. Also be vigilant at reception. I discovered that I had been charged an extra £30 on my debit card even though this was not reflected in the receipt!

"1 night stay"

really nice employees, they helped me a lot. the bed was layed through, the showers not 100% clean. the location is next to the national history museum and close to a train station.a good pick for a short and cheap stay.

"Great hostel"

I have stayed at this hostel for 2 nights, although the rooms were very basic (two bunkbeds, one table, and one chair), it was very clean. There is a sink in each room and several storage units, without a lock however, so bring your own. Free internet was included on request, but one should bring his own towel. The rooms were quiet at the back of the hotel, but at the front were rather noisy. Although the rooms were of mixed gender, the hostel seemed to make appropriate sleeping arrangements, girls with girls and boys with boys. Location near Hyde Park was excellent, subway station, bus stop, and nearest supermarket were all within 1 to 3 minute walking distance. So all in all, don't expect a whole lot of luxury, but if you want a place to stay at night at a cheap price this place is definitely worth considering.

"Good value for money"

The Hotel/Hostel is located near two tube stations and you have a quick access to a majority of the things to visit. The service is friendly. Accomodation in a dormitory includes basic amenities but also shower gel and shampoo. You can get an adapter at the reception. A padlock is useful to lock the drawer that is for your disposal in the room. Be aware that you share the dormitories (8 - 12 beds) with mostly young people.

"An ok hotel."

The room, a 4-beds one, was small but clean, but the bathroom always had hair all over it and the shower area was too small. I would always hit the walls while changing and I could hear other people hitting the walls in the other shower area as well. The service is fine, the price is good and the location is really nice: close to three museums and two subway stations.

"excellent location, decent hostel."

The hostel is in a very central located with very easy access to tube and bus routes. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms were basic, but it is a hostel and for the price you cant really complain. Although i would say there was only two sockets in our room with four people staying in it.Bathroom facilities were again basic but clean enough. One shower was broken but i never had to wait to use the others as there are sufficient toilets and other showers. I would recommend this hostel to backpackers, its not the Ritz but it is decent enough for a few nights. I was very happy with my stay. (stayed for 5 nights whilst on a course)

"1`night stay"

Stayed here with 2 friends in a 4 beds room as we were going to a gig in London. The room and hotel were excellent value for money, very clean etc, the girl on the desk was also very friendly. My only gripe is that Google maps has the hotel in a different spot- this resulted in half an hour of looking in the wrong place for the hotel.

"litte disappointment"

Toilets and showers were dirty. Room wasn't renovated like in pictures. No airconditioning .But hostel was well located.

"Incredible value"

Very impressed by my stay at the Meininger. Great value - 3 nights in a dorm of 4 for £30! - nice and quiet, and very clean, which is usually the point where hostels fall. The dorm was oppressively hot at night, which resulted in me waking up several times. It would be good if there were fans available, or even if you could open the window more than a couple of inches.Other than that, excellent all round.

"Top location, friendly staff, but...."

For a very short trip a good place to stay, clean rooms, located near Hyde Park, super friendly staff. My mattress was alright, those of the two kids not, because you felt the springs of them. Very,very, tiny plumbing unit.

"quick trip"

"Not bad for a hostel"

Found the place generally ok. Facility was sufficient for the price. Only problem i had was the beds were a bit to dry. If you quickly sat down you would feel right through the mattress to the slates. but when you are sleeping they are not that prominnent. Would use it again as a basic place to stay. Front desk staff was corteous and helpful.

"Cheap hotel in an excellent location"

The location of this hotel is superb for attending events at Hyde Park. If you are wanting a clean, modern, centrally located hotel/hostel then I can highly recommend it. Myself and three friends stayed for 2 nights when attending a concert at Hyde Park. We did not have breakfast, but then there are plenty of cafes and delis nearby. The only faults would be the beds, which were small and uncomfortable, and the tiny and ineffective shower.

"Given the value of the hotel fee one should stay as much as they can"

With the price that Meininger provides, you will get a decent and clean place to sleep the night and have some shower in the morning. I believe it is a Scouting place also.I suggest that one brings his/her own lock so that he will be able to secure his things in one of the drawers under the double decks. Also, you should bring your own slippers/rubber sandals and plug adaptors especially when recharging your iphones but you can borrow from the reception and make some deposit. I suppose you need to check out at 10am the following morning but I requested for a late check out and paid but when I returmed back at 12:30 I wasn't able to access my room anymore . I know I have until 1p.m. I also don't know if the shampoo dispenser is working. Renata at the reception seems to be unfriendly something that is not helpful for first timers esp. in UK. But the others at the reception are very nice and smiling. I called the hotel that I won't be able to check on the first night of my booking but I will pay for it I told but when I came in the a.m. for the following night my booking seems to be lost.I also hope that the breakfast can be made earlier perhaps 6am because it is very bright in UK already during summer. And the tourists are raring to go and don't want to waste time.Anyway, I will still be returning back to Meininger with my friend who suggested that place to me as it is very accessible to Gloucester Tube. Both highly accessible to city center i.e., Piccadily Circus and towards London Heathrow. It was all convenient.I wasn't able to sleep well because my bed is near the window along the street and I can hear the autos. So I suggest that you take room nearer the center of the building.I believe, given the value of the hotel fee one should stay as much as they can.

Excellent value for money

Its central location, just a short walk away from two underground stations, Gloucester Road and South Kensington, will allow you to travel to any area of London.

The Meininger London Hyde Park is the perfect combination of hostel and hotel. Located in the Baden-Powell House, named after the founder of the Boy Scouts, it features a permanent exhibition about the Scout Association. Elevator access on all floors and a ramp at the entrance has helped the hostel achieve a Mobility Level 1 rating, according to the National Accessibility Scheme. It offers many convenient features to make your stay as relaxed as possible. Among the many facilities, you can find a 24-hour reception desk, air-conditioning throughout, late check-out, a key-card lock system and onsite paid underground parking.

The Meininger Hotel London offers private and shared rooms. The entire building is non-smoking and the secured rooms are accessed via an electronic key-card system.
