 "Better than I expected"
“Better than I expected”18 Jun 2012 AleksandraP4I booked a room in this hotel without reading any reviews and when I finally did read them, I was actually anxious about my trip. Some of them are quite disheartening: dodgy streets, noisy area, dirty rooms and one person even complained about bedbugs! However when I got there I was pleasantly surprised. True, it is a small hotel, the corridors and staircase are quite narrow, but it was in no way dirty as some have described. The staff were polite and friendly, quite laid back. There is an elevator that you can use if you want to avoid the stairs (mind you, it isn't big). I booked a single non-refundable bedroom for myself to stay the weekend. The room was neat, the bed comfortable enough without filth or parasite infestations. There is a flat screen tv with remote control, a wardrobe and a full length mirror (something I'm quite pleased with). The bathroom was small, quite modest. You have soap and body wash dispensers in the shower cabin and next to the sink and are provided with 3 towels which were changed daily. The taps have been used quite often so do not look the best but they are nevertheless functional and clean. If you are looking for a clean, comfy room with modest yet functional surroundings this does the job properly. Some people complained about the street. There are a lot of Muslims living in this area so there are Turkish shops and kebab places - I don't mind that since I live in an area in London also heavily populated by Muslims and they are fine to get along with. Yes it might look a bit dodgy at night, but the main road is a minute away and the area is well connected with trams and metro that can take you to the center. You might have a few noise issues since the nearby church rings bells often and there is a nearby cafe that works until late but in general it is fine.I would recommend this hotel to people who are travelling on a budget as this fills all the basic requirements: cleanliness, transport access and comfort.

"Big room, nice enough for the price we paid"
Pros: Big room, nice enough for the price we paid.
Cons: It was far from the town center; the website said free wi-fi, but the only free wi-fi was in the lobby, you had to pay for it in the rooms.

Pros: We booked a 3-bed room and the room we received was more of a flat than a hotel room. huge, nice beds, overlooks the street and the cathedral nearby, a lot of eateries around, not at all noisy, bathroom was great (was pleasantly surprised by presence of working hairdryer), good location (we didn't even bother taking the tram to the city as most of the attractions of brussels seem to be within walking distance if you're fit) and the staff had been helpful.
Cons: There had been a confusion with another group regarding our rooms but it was sorted out fine.
