 "The bathroom is flooded"
The staff is nice. However, the bathroom is flooded and room door looks old.The location is good for a trip. The soundproofing is not good.

 "Wonderful, friendly service at Hotel Monopole de la Gare"
The Hotel Monopole was easy to find, close by the main railway station in Milano, which made it very handy for a day trip to Bergamo.The room was very clean and comfortable but what stood out was the excellent service from the Front of House Reception to the young man who promptly attended at my room when I requested assistance with the safe. All was well, but he showed great patience. The Manager on the front desk offered great advice on travel and eating out alone in Milano.I can't think of anything to improve and I'd been travelling solo for four months in Europe.

 "Perfect basic hotel"
Just your basics but a nice comfortable stay. Reception are friendly. Very close to railway station and metro. Rooms are old but comfortable. Take ear plugs incase you get given a room on separated by a line wall where a door use to be. This would be my only grievance. Breakfast is very good with a good variety of English and European foods to choose from. Staff are helpful but not a lot of tourist brochures etc in the hotel so I recommend picking them up from the station. Overall good stay for the money wih all the basics. Of you are a girl travelling alone just be mindful that it is a little intimidating walking at might through the park to get to this hotel from the station.

Pros: Great location, helpful staff, great breakfast (excellent capuccino by the way)
Cons: Sort of strange that it is actually 2 different hotels as the renovated part is completely different and apart from the old part. we ended up changing rooms and getting a superior room at the renovated part.

Pros: We booked a room for the wrong dates, but the hotel staff very kindly helped us to get our room at the same price and the dates we arrived on (18-21 may 2011). the breakfast was very good, including the coffee! and the location is very close to the central station!
Cons: The tv in our room did not work (which is a minor thing, since we didn't have much time to watch tv anyway); the sewage stank a little on the first day, but the rest of our stays it was fine.

Pros: The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. though not in a particularly nice area, the hotel itself was very clean and bright in both the room and in the public areas. the hotel is very conveniently located close to the train station and has easy jump to the airport. pleasant surprises were- in room delivery of a hot pizza and when i explained to the staff that i would be leaving before the start of their breakfast service they delivered a breakfast pack to my room the night before. overall i'd say that the hotel was a very pleasant place to stay and an excellent value for the money. i would absolutely stay there again.

Pros: Hotel monopole located just beside the milan centrale which is very convenient for me to catch the train. walking distance to duomo as well. and there is free internet at first floor!
