 "great hotel"
Great place to stay, reasonably priced, staff are friendly and hotel is clean and within walking distance from most popular attractions. Hoping to return again in october. Would highly recommend hotel

 "Nightmare"
As soon as we opened the door to the "hotel" I immediately said I wasn't staying there. It was more like a rundown hostel. I've stayed in many places before and some are nicer than others but this one was terrible. I got the room key from reception and told her I'd like to see the room first because I was sure we would not stay. The room was as I expected disgusting and like a jail cell and not the double bed that I paid for. The pictures online are not what it looks like. The location is great and that's what sold me but stay away from here. However the receptionist was nice enough to refund our money, even though it was a non refundable booking, since we didn't get the double bed we paid for and they had no more double beds (amongst other things). I'm sure this happens a lot there. I didn't get all the money back, I had to pay the portion that the hotel pays to the booking company, that was fine with me, I would've left even if I couldn't get any money back. We went down the street to a comfortable hotel, what a relief when walked in and it was only 20euros more.

 "Perfect for a short trip"
Me and two friends stayed in the hotel Mevlana for 3 nights and for the time we spent their it was perfect, the rooms are basic yet excellent for the price you pay. The communal shower and toilet again were perfect, very clean and hygienic. The hotel is situated in a great part of Amsterdam just a 2 minute walk from Dam Square and a 5 minute walk from the Red Light District, there are also plenty of nice bars and restaurants nearby. Overall i would say, for anyone who is spending a short trip in Amsterdam and is looking for very affordable accommodation then the Mevlana is the place to go!!

 "Amazing hotel!!!"
Originally we bOoked this hotel for 4 girls. A week before we were due to leave another friend decided to join us. We emailed mevlana and asked if she could join us in our room - they were so helpful and on arrival we had an extra mattress put in the room. We were all surprised that how cheap it was to stay here - it was so clean. Because of communual toilet and shower room this got a bit nasty in the mornings and evenings but that was the other travellers!! I cannot fault this hotel for anything and would definately recommend to groups travelling to Amsterdam - but wouldn't stay here for a romantic weekend away!!!!!

 "Mevlana was in a very good location"
Pros: Mevlana was in a very good location. i came with 5 other people and we all shared a room we had bunk beds which added to the whole amsterdam experience. room was clean but small what we expected. i would stay here again.
Cons: The stairs were so steep it was so funny trying to climb them with our bags not sure how we did it.

 "Hotel was ok"
Pros: Hotel was ok. but the staircase is way too steep. if you are carrying heavy luggage , i wish you all the very best!!! it was a nightmare taking the luggage upstairs. rooms and bathrooms were in good conddition and the hotel staff were helpful. specially a bloke called 'jason'. try the chinese noodle pack downstairs.

Pros: All the staff were really helpful and took care of us during our stay. the foosball table during our stay for the world cup was awesome. only thing i can think of would be adding fans to the room on the top floor to help with the air flow, but thats expected of a very high hostel/hotel room!
