 "Perfect location, all sites reachable on foot, including rail and bus..."
Pros: Perfect location, all sites reachable on foot, including rail and bus station; taxi rank right opposite. castle can just about be seen by leaning out of breakfast room window. large, newly furnished room
Cons: Not recommended. amateurishly run and maintained. entrance and stairs extremely uninviting. had to wait 20 mins to get in to collect our luggage and told on the phone it was our fault for leaving our luggage, although this service is offered in writing. had to carry luggage to third floor and back down to first floor to room. no lift. room initially clean, but beds and towels not changed after that; shower tap came off in hand; tv remote & internet didn't work; very loud third-world plumbing; street very loud at night. hotel undergoing diy 'improvements' carried out on the cheap with expensive but badly-fitted materials. too expensive for this kind of service and management.

Castle View Guest House, less than 100 metres from Princes Street.We are the most central three star guest House in Edinburgh. This is the house where Kenneth Grahame (1859-1932), author of "The Wind in the Willows", was born! Castle View is a spacious Georgian penthouse apartment on the 1st 3rd and 4th floors of an Edinburgh townhouse.We are a haven above the bustle of the city with lovely views from the front of the apartment to Edinburgh Castle on the right and the Firth of Forth to the left. We are located in the heart of Edinburgh, right next to the world famous Princes Street, so you are ideally placed to take advantage of the many attractions Edinburgh has to offer.We have converted the upper floors of the building and all the rooms have been recently refurbished and offer the best in comfort for our guests. Our aim is to offer the highest standard of service and amenities to delight our customers and encourage their return.
