Hotel Playa Cartagena

When I got to the hotel it didn't look too bad from the outside and even in the main lobby area. Then I was shown my room and the first one completely smelled horrible and had (2) beds. Then I opened the window and right outside of the building was a old broken down building of an eye sore.My girlfriend and I asked to be moved to another room, which had (1) bed and was on the next floor up. It at least didn't smell. So my biggest complaints. I got tickets to the Rosario island trip and we talked to the front counter and setup the trip and was told it included the aquarium. We get to the boat, and no it doesn't, apparently it is closed on monday? My girlfriend was completely disappointed by this and so was I myself. I went back to the hotel and we talked to the front counter girl and we were told that "she was new". The problem is we could have registered with another vendor and saved a lot more money, but we decided the hotel was the place to do it. We were not offered a discount on anything which I would say is not our fault but the hotels. Second thing the person that cleaned out rooms. She one day LEFT a pillow case in my girlfriend suitcase. INSIDE of it. The suitcase was on the opposite side of the room. This made us very uncomfortable as we thought someone was going through our suitcases. The second day, they forgot to give us towels for our room, the 3rd day they left a huge mess in the bathroom on the sink. There was a sand pile next to my toothbrush. We were told a lot of things that did not seem to pan out by the hotel. The gentleman that worked the front counter was the only one that seemed to really care and genuinely seems like he is doing the best he can, but possibly doesn't have the best staff to support him. that is just my opinion. Lastly the pictures of the pool area looks like the hotel is right on the beach, which it is clearly not. It's close, there is a road between it. Not that it's a huge deal, but the pictures are deceiving. I will not recommend this hotel to my family or friends, I will tell them to get the apartment like I should have done and after I got there should have done myself. I decided to try and give the hotel some chances and they just didn't seem like they wanted to do the best they can. For the price, I could have stayed at the holiday inn express, but I decided to try to go local. Make us want to come back to this hotel by EXCEEDING expectations.
