 "Good,"
I was impressed with the hotel, very reasonable for price and located in perfect spot to explore Amsterdam. The rooms was ok, the only down side was mould in the bathroom. This didn't affect us as such as we were only there for 3 nights. The hotel ensured our rooms were cleaned daily and new towels were put out everyday. It was nice to have fresh bedding etc each day. We also had continental breakfast, this could've been alittle better but it was simple and acceptable for what we paid. Most days we ate out as we were only 10 mins from all the cafes and restaurants. Cant really fault this hotel, pleasant, well mannered, professional staff.

"The pictures on the website arent what you get. Only go as a last resort."
I've stopped at a few budget hotels over the years but this one is shocking. On arrival the rooms we booked were not available so they tried to put me and my mother in to dormatory rooms. The rooms offered looked nothing like the pictures on the website. It appears that as we booked and paid ahead they thought they could just put us anywhere while our rooms were given to others. After turning down 4 rooms we eventually found two more suitable rooms but they were both sruffy and dangerous. There were bare cables, broken electrical fittings, broken curtain rails, broken doors. Heating you couldnt turn off. We didn't have the TV as requested. The walls were covered in scuff marks and grime. The only positive is that at least the toilets were clean and the bedding new.I'm trying to get the money back of my credit card company and "easybookers" for putting me and my family in a dangerous hotel.Summary, stay here if you have no other options... but trust me there are other budget places in Amsterdam in this range with better rooms. Do not take kids here, it's far too dangerous!

The Hotel is near Central station (Prins Hendrikkade) which is very useful if you stay one night or one day.The Room is clean but the decoration is very sad If you're looking for authenticity / luxe .

 "Can't complain!"
Good location, close to centre and central station.. Room was small but had what we needed. And anyway we came back to sleep..beds were very comfy and soft. Peasantly surprised considering the price we paid. Bathroom was a little dingy but was ok to use. Can't comment on the free breakfast as we never made it but I'm sure it was nice as it was always busy. Main manager very friendly and we were welcomed. It's not smokers friendly like the reviews said, but your in Amsterdam !! Steep stairs with no lifts but that's typical over there. Overall I can't complain.

 "Expensive and cheap rooms"
Rooms have not been refurbished in ages. One light out of 5 worked. Difficult to say the least to get the kid bed requested ( finally got it but it broke during the night and had to be stacked between other furniture to work and there was hardly enough space ). 150 euros for such a room i find out of the way.Location is excellent. Mostly housing young people so can also be noisy.

 "It was okay,,,"
First night was good, friendly staff and the room was average - breakfast was good. The hotel was a bit of a treck from Amsterdam city centre but it wasn't too bad. The second night there were different staff who weren't as friendly. On the first night we were told we could use the kettle whenever we pleased (we'd taken loads of pot noodles for snacks!), but on the second night we went to make a pot noodle and were shouted at for using the kettle! Was not impressed! So except from the moody staff on the second night, and our broken shower and the treck to the 3rd floor up the steep stairs, it was an okay place to stay, average and good for people who just want somewhere to stay.

"Stay away from this death trap"
When I booked the hotel, the description said (i) free wifi, (ii) Historic Building, (iii) Spacious Bathroom and (iv) Breakfast included. Sounded like any ordinary hotel. However, my nightmare started when I entered into my room (no 17). The room was dirty, old and only one was working out of 5 lights. I believe the bed Sheets were not washed for years. I tried to open the bedside table drawer and the entire table broke like a castle of cards. Then I noticed a piece of old bandaid, with blood on it, in the rubble of the table. To wash my hands, I went into the lavatory. The lavatory was no better than a junkyard. The walls were full of fungus; the window was wide open and cannot be locked. In addition, the lavatory door was broken and could not be moved. Anyone could come into my room through the lavatory window. So, I wanted to report to the reception, but I could not get out of the room as the main door handle broke loose into my hand. I tried to call the reception by using Wifi (no intercom was available in the room), but realized that wifi is only available in the reception area. Finding no way to get out, I sat on the bed and, out of a sudden, the wardrobe fall on me due to unstable wooden floor. Then I noticed someone wrote on the wall “Fawlty Tower”. I know it sounds like a comedy movie and really hard to believe. That’s why I put a Video on YouTube called “Hotel Y Boulevard – Fawlty Tower”. In that video, you can see everything I have described. Stay away from this death trap.

"APPALLING HOTEL. SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN"
This so called hotel needs to be closed down. It is a death trap and someone is going to get seriously hurt staying here. Lights not working. Electric cables hanging from walls. No locks on windows. Room full of mould and damp. Beds wet through damp. Unsafe wardrobes waiting to fall on top of you. Wall tiles fallen off in hallways. Carpets all thread bare, ripped and turning up waiting for someone to trip. Have to force all doors open as wonty open otherwise. Large sections of stair banisters missing. The list is endless. Staff most unhelpfull and rude., This hotel from hell needs to be closed down and an inspector to visit.

 "good hotel"
i was expecting the worst but was pleasantly suprised the room i stayed in was a connecting room and it was very good value, maybe it couldve been cleaned up, but that didnt matter as i hardly stayed there, but for a secure place to leave your bags and rest your head this is very worth it, and its extremely close to central station.

"Hotel Y Boulevard - Would I visit again?"
We enjoyed our weekend stay . The room was clean and the hotel staff were very helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect as it was near everything of interest but far away not to be in the thick of it all. The stairs to our room were steep and narrow and the room could have done with air con but overall we enjoyed our stay and would go back again if we were on a lower level.

 "not too bad"
For the price the quality is good! Look like backpacker an it's very close to the central station. The guardian is very nice and friendly, you can ask him what you want and he should help you

 "Horrible, old, greasy and itchy"
The hotel was absolutely old, dirty and smelly. There were fleas and the windows couldn't be closed no more. All fourniture was old and (to) dirty to sit on. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!! The corridors were very small to carry your bags. The staff was friendly though, but that is the only positiv review I can give..

 "Cheap, but it shows"
Somewhat faded glory, which is a shame as the place could be really nice. Let down by very low-cost fittings, broken shower rail, doors with holes in, ill-fitting bed sheets, broken window catch etc. WiFi only works in the hotel reception, and the lack of double glazing meant a noisy night.Friendly (if slightly crazy() staff.

 "never again"
The receptionists were very unwelcoming and don't seem to have any communication between eachother concerning their guests. We were given the key of a dirty room,, so we had to wait an extra hour as they sorted it out. Apparently the house keeping manager for got to clean it! The next morning at 7 am, we had a receptionist banging on our door, trying to open it with his spare key, shouting out that our friends wants to see us! Our friends?? the last time i checked, we went their alone. it is good that we slept with our key in the inside of the door! we do no recommend the hotel, not even to people planning to go solo.

 "NASTY,RODENTS,STRUCTURALLY UNSOUND"
0 Star this definitely far too over rated should be youth hostel and still the youth hostels are better..Its doesnt state its a 0 star but you dont get what you pay for as we got a 4 star more in the centre for the same price!!!!!!We got given a dark shabby room with RSJ props outside the room door the bathroom smelt like someone just chucked a tub of cholrine and window held up by a bit of 4x2 wood. We complained as from being from a construction background didnt feel safe. The woman who served us she wasn't very nice and very unprofessional and quite a moody person in general. She gave us keys to about 8 different room to look at and EVERY ONE had something wrong health and safety wise, (mould, damp, wires exposed in bathroom and just a generally grotty unsafe rooms).

 "Cleanliness: 0"
This hotel has a very good location. But the relation between the quality and the price is really bad. It's a two star hostel and when you're there you will think that you are in a cheap and bad pension. The worst in this hotel is the cleanliness. Please, if you choose it take your own towels and sheets. I would recommend it to a friend only because oh the location.

 "Avoid"
Big black stains on sheets and towels… all of them. And when we complained to the reception guy, his answer was that he always takes his sheets and towels with him when going to a hotel because nobody knows what germs and filth to expect on hotel laundry!!!
