 "Worst standard ever"
We choose to book The Wellington hotel because of the location, fairly close to Victoria station. The room was of the poorest standard we had ever experienced. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment and the newer parts are of utmost standard - but at a MUCH higher price. When talking to the manager he refused to let us get our money back but we needed to choose another hotel and so we did. Don't book rooms without bathroom in this hotel. It's expensive, not very close to any underground station and definitely of the poorest standard.

We picked this hotel for its value for money on New Years Eve and the fantastic location - central to transport networks and walking distances to central tourist locations.We have previoulsy stayed at the Wellington and were pleased to see the bathrooms had been updated. The staff wee welcoming and helpful, breakfast was satisfactory although a little disappointed at the fruit juice being very diluted and the beds were most comfortable after a lot of walking! A couple of things to improve this hotel - turn the heating down! It was very hot throughout the hotel which was uncomfortable at times and add tea/coffee making facitioes into each room. After alot of walking a cup of tea on my return would have been great.I would certainly recommend this hotel.Rachael and Kevin Jan 13

Yes, the hotel is a bit outdated and could use a renovation but it's a great place to stay in while visiting London. It is within walking distance from central London and provided exactly what we needed, a place to crash in after a long day of sightseeing. We're quite young couple and stayed there for 5 nights and were quite pleased. Bed and bedlinen were clean, resently renovated shared toilet/showerfacilities down the hall, fresh towels daily. You can't expect luxury with such cheap rate. Breakfast was included and was ok, toast was cold although (would it cost that much to buy toasters for the guests to use themselves..?) and it wasn't very versatile with toast,cereal,juice,tee/coffee, cheese,ham and somedays also there were buns and croissants. And the breakfast ended quite early, at 9 or 9.30.24h reception came in handy because we had to leave before 4am since our bus from Victoria coach station left at 4 (15min walking distance). Helpful staff. Quite expensive to use the internet, best if you go to a cafe with free wifi since there are plenty of those. All in all I would stay there again and would recommend to others, if they are not too picky about outer appearance of the place.

The location of the Wellington was fantastic, and we had a lovely view of the square overlooking playing fields. Although our room was basic the room was warm and the bed was very clean and comfortable, the breakfast was also basic but no limit to quantity with good coffee. The staff were friendly and for what we paid we thought we had good value for money.
