 "Hot, hot, hot"
+ This hotel was really cozy, the staff was wonderful, and it was cleaner than I had expected. You got slippers, towels and a bathrobe. There were also shampoo, conditioner and soap in the showers. I loved the location of the hotel. - It was freakishly hot in the room, barely any air. Apparently something wrong that they fixed til the last night, but it was still very hot. The fan is a "table fan", attached to the wall, and it only blew cool air on my face, which gave me a headache.

 "THE SMELL OF FEET"
I usually stay at The Jane but this was my last trip there. It was the first time I got one of the smaller rooms and we did this as there were no Captains rooms available.The room smelled like feet and there were a lot of people smoking (on the 3rd floor anyway!)Worst of all there was NO air, no fan, NOTHING! We just laid there and sweat.It cost $160.00 for the night which I know is considered a bargain in NYC but we got NO sleep and left pretty upset the next day.I know "It's Only Rock and Roll" but I don't like it.

Pros: A very cheap/clean place to stay on manhattan island.
Cons: The room beside mine had construction work going on at the time of the hotel and the management didn't relocate me or anything even after complaints - there were loud thumping noises. also, the guidebook for the hotel said they would provide a jug of water - but there wasn't. after inquiring, i was told there was nothing they could do because they had run out of jugs. this gave the impression that not only did the staff not care for the comfort of the guests, but they also did not live up to all that they said they would in their handbook.

Pros: Perfectly designed with a real sense of style, as 90 % of all hotels are not, excellent staff (even the craftsmen working there), though bathrooms are shared, looks like they're even cleaned at nighttime
Cons: Not just a place for visitors, but also for some obscure (but friendly) permanent lodgers (guess very ny), some love to smoke cigarettes, so don't be surprised to get some extra passive smoking.
the washinbasins might be bigger...

Pros: It was great!!! the staff was super helpful and friendly...the rooms were clean and we were in a great location. i would definitely stay there again. it is best for a single traveler b/c the rooms are small.

Cons: I was talking to a local about the jane and they had mentioned a friend of theirs stayed there and experience bed bugs, when i returned that evening it was confirmed when i searched my bed.
