Hotel the crown, well its my 2nd time staying in this hotel and i will always use it when ever i go to amsterdam. It is in an excellent location for coffee shops and just 5 mins walk from the train station its very easy to find.the hotel staff are very welcoming and do excellent latte's also if your new to the area and need to no where to go then they will help and direct you the right way. now with there help i no my way around for everything even very nice food i will be going back again and 100% be staying in HOTEL THE CROWN every time. craig graham, staffordshire, England.

Hotel was excellent value, extremely clean and real comfy beds! Perfect place to stay for short break - central location. Rooms nice & warm after cold day out sightseeing. Guinness is a charmer ;) thanks to all the staff for a great stay!

I recommand this hotel!! At 700 meters Centraal Station, in the middle of the Red Light District : very good location!! The personal is very nice. And there is a bar at the enter of the hotel.There is always someone at the reception

Firstly the good points. The Hotel is right in the center of Amsterdam and is a walk or tram ride from everything you will want to see in the city. Despite being very dated the room wasn't too bad, it was clean and had a private sink. The hotel also had a bar which you could smoke in and a pool table (although I didn't visit it).Now the bad points, at 70 Euros a night you don't get a lot for your money which I expected, but some things were not very nice e.g. no sink in the toilet and no hand soap (you had to go back to your room without washing your hands), and the carpet had stains on in the hallways. The stairs were also extremely steep which wasn't an issue for me but may be for other people. Also being in the red light district, the streets outside the hotel had litter in from the night before and looked a bit scruffy.In summary if you are looking for a base to go out in the red light district with a group of guys/girls it is probably fine, but for the whole Amsterdam experience I would probably stay a bit further out in the Museum district where the area is nicer, then you can visit the Red Light district easily if you want as well.

Really pleased with service and friendliness we received at the Crown will definitely stay there again.

Rooms were quite clean and most of the things worked fine... a good choice for people who don't mind about smoking in the hotel bar, narrow staircases and some noise from the corridor at night time. Location is excellent and the area is relatively peaceful even though it is on red lights district.

Excellent stay @ the Crown!!! Very clean, the wonderful smell of bleach was in the air when we arrived. Right in the Red Light District. Day and evening staff very nice and looked out for my friend and I when we sat in the bar.Be warned, the stairs are extremely steap.

directly outside "the shocking room" was located the "shared toilet" which was constantly visited thro the night by a stag party who vomitted and s**t all over it...the hotel should come with a warning on arrival we were charged for the room which was 25 euros more than booking price if we paid on leaving i would not have paid the extra with these prices you would expect your own toilet!! and rooms that were acceptable to people living in the 21st century...

No toilets in the room. Shower with no place to put ur towel and ur clothes and no locker.The receptionist looks like they hate u.. Very creepy hotel.

For the price you pay, which is more like a hotel, I was disappointed to find my room was a box room with a tiny sink in the corner. I'm not against shared toilets and bathrooms, but the noise in the corridor as people make their way to the corridor was terrible.

Really great hotel, you get your money's worth. The rooms are small and you share a shower and toilet, but for such a good price in peak time it didn't matter, and they were all very clean. The location is great for young people, we didn't actually realise it was in the red light district before we went, but overlooking the occasional red light shop the bars and pubs and general atmosphere there was great. Good location for going anywhere in Amsterdam as it's a 2 minute walk to Centraal Station. Would recommend to anyone.

This hotel is only a small step up from a backpackersThe room was basic at best no TV no mini bar , shared bathroom etc. If you're expecting a proper hotel then you'll be dissapointed.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, it's literally a stones throw from everything. It's right near Dam square and is located in the heart of the Red light District. The rooms are small but clean and the beds are comfy. The only let down are the shared bathrooms and showers, there clean and fine but would just be nice to have had your own.

What can i say? Location fantastic. Room TERRIBLE, but clean sheets...We did not really need more then a place to sleep on our trip to Amsterdam. Not recommended if you are planning to enjoy your hotel time as well, unless you want to smoke yourself silly in the bar/ lounge down the usual very steep stairs!!! Amsterdam wonderful as ever.

The crown hotel was perfect value and perfect location rooms could have been bigger but we booked late. Stayed there for 2nights me and my friend and enjoyed our weekend thanks the the crown we would stay there again

When we stayed overnight in the hotel Crown I though it was just the old style of stairs toaccess 3 stories in such a closed in space. Later I found this to be the rule and not the exception in the Old Town. Joseph was more than kind carrying out back packs up the 3 flights of circular stairs, as we are both over 66 yrs. old. He was willing to watch our things while we went out. He gave us history Lessons on the old town as well as directions. I would stay there again after being in a room in another hotel over the all night party going on under out window. The Crown Hotel is quiet and clean, with firm but very comfortable beds.

dont listen to wingers, you get what you pay for,some where to put your head ,back rooms are better less noise at night ,dont forget there is a refunded deposit i paid £320.00 for 4 people ,your central near damrak street ,remember it is illegal not to have i.d on you, keep your valubles in a secure pocket,and dont get sucked in by con men,its great fun have a great time.

This hotel/hostel is brilliantly positioned just 5 mins walk from the train station and close to the budog bars. If you are looking for a nice cheap place to crash if out partying in the dam this is a good place to go. Really friendly staff who kept the bar open late for my touring hockey team.

Clean room, clean shower room, friendly Staff, 2 minutes from all the sites and bars of Amsterdam. It is perfect if you are looking for a base to leave your things and go exploring like us. We stayed in the twin room in the attic at the back and it was really quiet so sleep was great, the beds were clean and comfortable. The bar was well stocked with cold beers and the staff were pleasant and warm. The stairs to the third floor were a nightmare though, but arn't they all in this city?! I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Amsterdam and this hotel added to my experience, I will definitely be returning

Pros: Friendly.
Cons: The told me my room was on the first floor. it was on the third. showers appeared to be dated and i was unsure of cleanliness.
