I thought the hotel was appalling, badly located, the customer service was horrendous, and I wouldn't let anyone stay there. The rooms were okay, but there was plenty of hidden charges unaware to myself and they talked to us like absolute idiots.

You had to wash your own dishes after breakfast Staff particularly the woman very rude and unfriendly cant eat in your room Cant have guests overLittle bugs in my bedBathroom and toilets on the same standards as prisonWorst 3nights ever

This is the worse hotel i have had ever been in Europe and easy to book should take it out of the website. Bad bed, awfull breakfast.The only good thing: location (just 5 minutes to downtown by bus).

This was a great Spot for us to stay in.Me and my Friend booked a double room...We were informed that the tv doesnt work and there is some constructions going on around this building , so she upgraded our room..We were on the Top floor (the stairs are so typical dutch,I just never get used to it)where we had a beautiful View over amsterdam...We had great access to all the Hot spots in Amsterdam.Of course by Tram..The staff was absolutely nice and i would recomend this hotel again...Thanks

I wouldn't call this a hotel. For the price we payed, we didn't expect great luxury but we also handn't expected to spend the night in a youth-hostel. The carpet and the walls were filthy, the tap in our room leaked and when I asked some water at breakfast, I had to take it from the tap in the kitchen. On the wall near our table fot breakfast was a sign that said:" please clean up your mess after eating." The staff didn't speak Dutch and scarcely understood the Dutch language. Sphinx Hotel: once but never again!

There is no service. At best, I could talk to the presence of unutile staff.The room overlooks a busy street where the tram passes.The location of the hotel is good unlike utilities, sanitary and breakfast shivers along the spine.Finally, only the price was good but it was worth not at all the rest of the service

what a great location and all this place needs is an update. i slept good in a single room . i was not allowed to view the dorm i booked and for a few euro more i was given a single room. after recovering from the anger of finding a flea on my bed and killing it after it bit me only to find it loaded with my fresh blood ; I slept on the other bed in the room in my clothes with my raincoat on top of me and the duvet under me. the beds should have been chucked about 20 years ago as they were old and frayed and awful but i slept in the back of the building so it was quiet and i was tired. i woke at 6am feeling refreshed and felt like i was a student again in a youth hostel . i was able to laugh it off and almost ready to apply for a job asking them if they needed help assessing and writing job sheets for the workers as i am an interior designer by trade. As for the breakfast it was a joke. bread ,sliced cheese,cheap sliced ham and some sort of tange styled juice drink but no water.i have traveled to amsterdam many times and enjoyed some lovely hotels but this was a sad hotel in need of major tlc . i would not go back there and really object to easy to book recommending it as it was not what a hotel needs to be

Discusting curtains hanging of mattress with springs through sticking out shower and sink filthy communal toilet disgraceful had to buy own bleach only stayed as they demanded full anount worst experience I have had !

Pros: Yep, before booking and going through the reviews, i was apprehensive of staying there, but once i reached there, i found it quite reasonable at least for the amount of money you are paying along with free breakfast. i found it a very good value for my money.the man at the reception during night time was very nice.
Cons: Once i reached the hotel around 1200hrs, the lady at the reception was not very cooperative and was busy in having chat with some one known to her rather than welcoming the customers.

Pros: Access from city centre was excellent
Cons: Stairs were dangerously steep, breakfast was provided on the cheap, room was very small, general maintenance work need doing

Cons: Very very loud and uncofortable beds

Pros: The hotel is at exellent location and breakfast is reasonable
Cons: They prohibit bringing food in rooms, but we came for 1 night and had our food supply with us. at night mice atacked our cheese

Pros: Good staff
Cons: Handrails on steep twisting stairs get a lot of use. these ones needed cleaning much more often.

Pros: Cheap and well located next to museums, heineken experience and close to the center. decent value for money.
Cons: The hotel is very shabby, fairly dirty and half-past broken.

Pros: Great price and comfortable.
Cons: Stairs are a bit steep. be careful
