"Barcelona quick city visit"

Overall very positive experience: Very friendly and helpful staff, a cool bar at the sun deck / swimming pool on the roof. What you should be aware of: You get awake when your neighbors are coming home or leaving / noisy corridors.

"Excellent centrally located hotel"

We arrived for our 3 day stay to be told there had been a problem with the booking, the booking had been overlooked and the hotel was now full. We were taken to another hotel for our first night, this was not the best start to our break, however the replacement hotel was very nice, just not very central so we decided the next day to transfer back to Grand Hotel Central for the rest of our stay as rooms were now available. For the inconvenience we were put in an upgraded room, with complimentary Cava and some welcome drink vouchers to use around the pool. The room was on the front of the building, really calm interior and very comfortable. You could hear a little traffic noise but not enough to be any problem. I never heard any noise from any of the adjoining rooms in the hotel. We relly enjoyed our stay, the location for us was excellent, we could walk down to the beach or into town and the Ramblas. We would choose to stay here again.

"Fair comment"

We arrived at this hotel hoping for a little relaxation before seeing the sites in the city. We found the darkness of the interior slightly dreary although clean. The room we were allocated looked over rooftops at the back of the hotel and was rather depressing. We tried to use the pool area unfortunately all of the space was being used or saved by the placing of towels on loungers and seats. We would have expected a member of staff to offer assistance but this was not forthcoming and we therefore went out of the hotel and spent our time and money elsewhere. Breakfast was good.

"Superb hotel in superb location"

After 3 weeks travelling and staying in supposed 5-star hotels, I can place my hand on heart and say this was the best tourist hotel stay experience in those 3 weeks. The location cannot be beaten (away from the maddening Rambla) yet walking distance to the best foodie trail and 5 minutes walk to the Picasso Museum. Clean, very comfortable and the staff were professional and always friendly and very helpful... they offered to help and assist whenever the opportunity presented itself. The rooftop bar and pool is a highlight and caters to everyone no matter age. We stayed in room 505 which overlooks an ancient Roman wall and 15th century building with small square in front. Walk to the most quaint alleys with food shops and eateries that became as much a focus of our stay as the museums and cathedrals themselves. We will most definitely stay at this hotel on our return.

"week end trip"

Fun week end where the hotel payed a good part. Especially loved the bar and pool on the roof! Location was great as everything we wanted to see was in walking distance.

Pros: The staff was very helpful and the location was terrific - right downtown, close to la rambla and the bus. the breakfast included in our price was excellent although the eggs could have been hotter! water and softdrinks in the minibar in the room were included in the price - a nice change from most hotels.
Cons: There weren't many towels and no facecloths.

Pros: Excellent location, room was superbly clean, nice bathe, free water n juice. we had extended our trip by a day at a slightly higher rate with breakfast. good selection of food and my husband enjoyed the champagne!
Cons: Wish the hotel at put up appropriate signs well visible to their clients during the riot! my entire day was wasted!!! extremely frustrated over it. would have been good if we were offerred breakfast all days.

Grand Hotel Central is a large property that presents a wide selection of rooms for your perusal. It is comforting to know that the rooms are of a 4-star level. The hotel can be easily reached via Estació de França. Santa Caterina's Market, Gothic Quarter and Las Ramblas are several attractions you can enjoy in the surrounding area. Barcelona Cathedral is easy to get to from here and is sure to leave an impression on visitors. If you're in town for a conference in Palau de la Musica Catalana, its accessible on foot from here.

Grand Hotel Central stands out, as it not only has a restaurant on the property, but also a bar/lounge and a library.
