had a single private room for cheapgood location, good service, clean, pretty happy with the hostel.rooms are small and not sound proof but didn't bother me as i'm a deep sleeper and i spent most of my time out of the hostel

The service was quite good and the staff really friendly. The hostel was very clean; including the shared bathroom and the rooms. The location is ideal as the hostel is 5minutes from the metro station, 15 min. from the Sagrada Familia and 20min. from the shopping area "Passeig de Gràcia", on foot! However, the problem was that nobody could speak in english. Also, our room had no soundproofing so if people were shouting or laughing outside we could hear them very well! What is more, the room was not that comfortable due to its small space. Despite these, its advantages overcome the disadvantages of it; thus, it is very good!

Simple but good hostel. You have everything you need (airconditioning!!!) and with a metrostation just around the corner you can get everywhere!

it was a small room but clean enough and that was very good. There was too much noise from the streets. We weren't satisfied from the service as they weren't so kind. We asked to store our luggage in the hostel the last day and return in the afternoon to get it, because our flight was late at night. They said that they don't have space for that. I think that it would be an advantage of the hostel to offer this service.

Singleroom was small but with air-condition. Friendly staff and clean everywhere. A small fridge and only one table in the same room as the computers. No kitchen. Ok for this price.

Hostel Felipe II provided a single room at a bargain rate. Although the room was tiny, what more could you expect for 40 Euros a night - after all, in Barcelona, why would you spend any time in your room? The shared bathroom was kept clean, but the sound from the corridor did wake me early every day. Just as well I had to get up for a conference, but I wouldn't expect to get any lie-in. The staff in the day were very helpful, but the out of office hours staff didn't have a clue! At Verdeguar, it is only 2-3 metro stops along L4 north of the main area of the City and was also on the line to the Barcelona International Conference Centre at El Maresmo/Forum. A little to far to walk to and back from the main action, but the Metro seems to run very late.

We had a great time staying at Hostal Felipe II. Staff are very helpful and friendly. A minor setback was the wireless connection, where we could not connect nor get any wireless signal in our rooms. Other than that, we would recommend this place to our friends and family.

We arrived to the hostel, and were informed that we were receiving an upgrade in a better location. Considering we were young and all females, we were leery about this unexpected change. We had agreed to see it went downstairs to wait for a cab where we changed our minds and wanted to stay in the original room. Unfortunately we immediately were told that they had 'just rented it out and were booked', leaving us in the new location. This made us really nervous and we were unhappy with that situation. However, the new location was nice and we ended up having a great trip. It was a little complicated and nerve wracking to have been forced into change, but it was okay in the end.

Pros: The hostelis very clean and modern for the older building that it is in. the staff really made the experience for me - very kind and helpful.
Cons: It might have been where my room was located, but i could hear everything in the building as to guests coming and going in all hours of the night. it was very loud. perhaps a sign at check-in or a reminder to guests to be respectful during sleeping hours would be helpful.

Pros: I greatly enjoyed my experience at hostel felipe 2. the hostel was very, very clean. the staff were both friendly and helpful. i had a double room with a shared bath. i never had any troubles using the bathroom when i needed to. the location was fantastic -- very close to a subway stop and downtown. my only concern was the room was a bit smaller than i expected. however, i would definitely stay at hostel felipe 2 again.
Cons: The room could have been a bit bigger. a window would have been nice. i know at least some of the other rooms have windows.
