Hotel Rex マドリード

Nice hotel, excellent location! Many shops and attractions were on a walking distance. We were especially fond of the breakfast buffet. The price is rather low for what you get. We really enjoyed our visit in Hotel Rex.

Breakfast meal could preferably be varied more, per example with boiled or fried eggs or bacon and vegetables ex tomatoes.Very small bathroom. Sitting on the toilet with your chin in the hand-basin. Otherwise OK.

I have read lots of reviews with petty complaints about this hotel. And just as well i overlooked them all as none of them are true. I really do not get some people at all that said the place was filthy, had prostitutes outside, complained about the air con, complained about having to walk down 8 steps or something as ridiculous as the elevators being too small. The place is grand and i have no complaints at all. Yes the place is a bit of an older building. But it is spotless and the friendly cleaners were around without fail throughout the day everyday. Yes the reception is down a few steps but that's all it is. It's hardly a huge inconvenience to do something at most twice (checking in and out) that takes 5 seconds. Also the staff on reception were polite and bilingual. Provided us with maps and anything we asked for. There are 2 elevators. One holds 3 people and the other 4. Yes there can be a bit of a wait at busy times but it's only a few minutes. The price includes a good buffetbreakfast. The rooms are good. Nice and clean. Good shower, tv, air con, peacefulness. The beds were the only thing that weren't the best. But if you are like me and sleep quite easily you'll have no problem. The location is also perfect with metro's in different directions less than 2 mins away. It's a 3 star hotel which means there won't be robes and slippers. But if you want a good priced clean hotel in a great location this is the one. Ignore all that petty crap about pillows not being too fluffy or the carpet being too furry or whatever nonsense idiots go onto the inetnet to complain about.

Pros: Good location, very central, we walked everywhere. large room, good bathroom. computors available in the lobby at all times. sat tv had bbc nerws channel. good buffet breakfast.
Cons: Lifts a bit small, entrance off street a bit off-putting.

Pros: Good to have a hotel with a single room and twins. single room very quiet as it faced inside to court-yard. room on street side coold have been noisy if lower down.
Cons: Same rpoblem as many with bath plugs! ask on arrival.fine if only use the excellent shower.

Pros: I found the hotel clean and the daily breakfast was very good. the hotel is handily placed for the centre of madrid.
Cons: I stopped at the hotel rex on two occasions. my first stay was for two nights and then a week later a further three nights. on the first visit,i was in room 411 and there was no plug for the sink in the bathroom.it was no problem for two nights and i put up with it.
on my second visit one week later, i was in room 215 and there was no plug again in the sink!irritated and curious i went to the hotel reception to find out about this strange situation. imagine my suprise when i informed the reception staff that there was no plug for the sink , to be informed by the staff that there was no plugs in the entire hotel!
the staff member then reached under the counter and presented me with a plug on a 12 inch chain! i kid you not. i gave them the plug back on the day i checked out when i paid my bill. room 215 was quite a noisy room, partly due to fellow inconsiderate guests in the corridors or slamming their room doors etc. also from this room you could hear the hotel boiler or heating system switch on or off after a period of time - which could be quite annoying.
also the hotel reception is not at ground floor, it is situated at basement level with no lift. so you have to manhandle your heavy bags down the steps where the reception and lifts are located. you have to do this procedure in reverse when you leave and i did see several elderly people struggle with their bags to get them from the basement to street level.
incidentally, if i had not stopped at the hotel twice in 2 different rooms, i would not have become aware of the lack of plugs for the sinks. maybe, everyone like me would have just put up with it for a short period.

Pros: Muy buena impresión, fue el mejor de los hoteles en los que estubimos, todo bien y excelente desayuno.
Cons: Mejorar la vista del hotel por la parte interna de él que nos tocaba ver desde la habitación 916.

Pros: Hotel was clean , staff helpfull, excellent breakfast
Cons: Steps from street level to reception were v/awkward especially when handling luggage

Pros: Hotel in perfect location good value for money very clean hotel rooms staff really helpful could not fault anything will use again

Pros: Room and bed is spacu enough and clean.
Cons: Breakfast was of less quality and there was not enough staff available to serve at demand. waiting time to get a cup of coffee was too long. there is no bar available which is not common to a hotel with the day fare you have to pay for it.
