Catalonia El Pilar Zaragoza

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in mid-August when temperatures outside were soaring into the high 30s C. We arrived at the hotel in late afternoon after a quite long and very hot journey from Roses, to receive an excellent welcome from the reception staff. The hotel lobby was cool and welcoming, and we were given guidance on how to get our car close to the entrance to unload our things.Our room was spacious, luxurious, extremely well cooled by some highly efficient air conditioning, and we each enjoyed a cool bath after the journey, feeling refreshed to face the Zaragoza evening.The hotel is in the centre of the historic part of the city, with shops, restaurants, museums and many other attractions on the doorstep. The amazing Square del Pilar was just a few steps away from the hotel, with the most amazing water feature, the Church of San Juan de los Panetes, museums and numerous pavement cafes to while away some time.We took a tourist bus from the far end of the square to explore Zaragoza and discovered that our ticket allowed us not only to repeat part of the route later, but also provided two free tickets for a river cruise to the 2008 Expo site during the late afternoon.This is a lovely hotel, the quality of service is very high - and we can highly recommend it for staying in this part of Spain.Keith Parry
