Pretty good location and friendly staff were only good things. They brought breakfast (2 toast & tea, sometimes eggs or cereals) to room on morning. The room wasn't clean and the shower didn't work well.

I am the kind of person who doesn't really care what a hotel room is like. I go cheap and I'm not fussy. I paid £50 for one night b&b in an en-suite room. The biggest thing that could have been a problem was that when I turned up with my booking reference, they had no record of it. Thankfully they sorted me a room out straight away and I had to write my details on a scrap piece of paper. They asked what time I wanted breakfast and said they'd deliver it to my door. When I heard them deliver it to the room next door I had to remind them, so I'm not sure I would have got it if I hadn't have asked. Overall, the room was something I'd expect for that price in London, probably not to everyone's taste. The bed was nice and big and comfortable enough.

After finding out our twin en-suite room was not ready , we spent our first night in a attic bed room ,(not en suite ) with the promise of the room we booked and paid for in advance the next morning.The shared bathroom had no hot water, and a toilet that didn't flush.The next morning, after complaining about the shared bathroom, we were shown our en-suite room, which was no better, with a toilet that didn't flush and no hot water !! Needless to say we checked out straight away !! Very disappointing experience .

nothing special but close to vistoria coach station, let us in at two in the morning as arranged on the phone , nice hard boiled egg, warm toast and big teapot served in our room at arranged time; Would go back, good value for the price

it was an horrible experience..the only good thing was the location..we walked to the room and it was as if we were in the london dungeons.it was horrible.the room smelt vey bad..no ventilation..and the toilets was the highlight of our stay..i have never seen a more dirtier toilet ever in my life..there was a cupboard with a beer can and a used cup..it was smelling so bad and i felt sorry for my wife as it was my decision to choose this hotel..its not actually a hotel..its like rooms here and there in a building..my recommendation--stay away!!!

avoid a catastrophe "Golden star hotel"this is the first time I find a hotel without reception just a chair with an agent who didn 'nothing to do with the trade of the reception, so I have arrived at 4:00 PM to take the key room (shower + a toilet inside) but the receptionist (away from the title) I was shocked that there are still a room without toilet and m has offered to return at 6:00 PM to find me a solution other hotels nearby, 8:00 PM to the agent apologizes and call his boss to lead us to another hotel but it was the best he had no place. we get our luggage and we look for another hotel.

Room was very small,including bathroom.Breakfast was disaster,never seen worse.Only plus was location,but later we found very nice place just little bit further and cheaper....but could been even worse :-)

I would recommend anyone to stay; in this old but new Victorian Hotel, near all location of interests in the heart of London. I would also like to say I will be going back again to this wonderful Hotel where the management is so helpful.

It wasn´t a good Hotel and we don`t rate it anyone.There was no reception ,only two chairs in the very small floor . In our room ,a damaged window ,because we can`t closed it. No cupboards .No Water-Tea Cooker. The Bathroom was very tall,the shower was defect and the toilet was striktly near at the shower(20cm).No one can`t sit normaly at the toilet.Everybody have to change his sitting position.Never ever this hotel.Positiv: Near the undergroundstation

Not recomendable at all, even if the location is good. Not cheap enough when standard and service are so bad as they are here.

We are very satisfied with this certain hotel. For realy good price room was clean with bathroom. There was too many light from the street but thats not hotels fault. Good value low price. I can recomend this hotel

dirty blanket, horrible moquette everywhere, i have to pay with a gift card of Sainsbury because the owner didn't repair( he said) his credit card reader!!!!the "hotel" hasn't a reception and a hall, the breakfast is composed by 4 bread slice toasted, 2 hard boiled egg, some butter and jelly and two cups of tea, poooor!In the bathroom just 2 mini cakes of soap and only two towel that the service never changes! so don't let you attract by the cheap price in a good location (800 mt from Victoria Station) PLEASE AVOID!

Good location & price.Nice people - but a bit like staying at your uncles house!!Quite basic rooms and service - needs modernising.

This hotel stinks!! It is cheating and deception. Although it is a budget hotel then these conditions inhumane! Cold water in shower and a toilet where the girls could not sit down, but had to stand sideways. Linens and towels were not washed after the previous guests. Breakfast was served in your room and consisted of disgusting cold tea, hard boiled eggs which were black inside, a little butter and jam on a plate and there should we (two people) parts 1 and 1 knife and 1 thespoon. I wanted some of my money back because I have NOT got what I paid for, but the man who took us said that he was not the owner. He wanted to get him to come up to our room the last night, but we never saw him. When we checked out, they had no to accept the keys, so we just put them on the chair and I wrote a letter with many ugly words and asked the owner to gain 60 pounds back to my address! I will recommend your booking company to delete this hotel from the list so that others will not be cheated and exposed to this filthy hotel !!!!!!!!!!!

Only 1 word 'WORST'. No neat blankets, light not working in the toilet, no room heater.One nightmare experience. Will never ever book in this hotel.

Definetly, It is the most nasty and durty hotel I have ever been. When we arrived, tyred after the trip, we were obligued to change the hotel because of lack of free rooms. In this new hotel we had to pay more money than the reservation made before,and hhis hotel was durty and nasty aswell, without hot water in the bathroom. The only good point of the hotel is location ,near lots of interesting touristic places.

The Golden Star is a tempting option, because its location is superb and its pricing is unbeatable in the area: round the corner from Victoria Station in a nice, clean neighborhood. However, a total lack of professionalism, integrity, and management make this a risky venture for anyone booking from afar. First of all, the Golden Star DOES NOT have credit card OR regular email capability. The proprietor makes a weak claim that the credit machine is "broken," and demands cash on the doorstep; if one cannot pay cash, he suggests that the traveller walk up the street and obtain a Tesco (supermarket) giftcard equalling the cost of their stay (others have reported this previously, so it has been on-going). There are no receipts unless requested - and these are hand-scrawled on scraps of paper. I can only assume he is evading taxes.Because the proprietor has no reliable email access, he cannot communicate in that fashion (making phone his only method). I had meticulously confirmed the time of my check-in prior to departing the US, but was unable to receive calls on my US phone the day prior to check-in. Because of this, the proprietor gave my room to someone else (claiming, unconvincingly, that water had damaged rooms, causing a shortage). I was stranded at 12AM, and forced to stay at an unpleasant hotel up the street that he had arranged for me (the toilet didn't flush, and the ground floor window could not be secured). He insisted upon cash for all of this, and could scarcely be moved to discount my stay for the second night, bemoaning the inconvenience to himself of finding me a room! (The discount was minor, when finally agreed upon).I honestly feared for my safety: Midnight, strange man demanding cash, saying I had no room, but he'd reserved an alternate in a nearby hotel and would drive me there in HIS car.... It was an unacceptable position to put a traveler in. But he was not dangerous - just thoughtless and (I think) unscrupulous. The amenities: The wi-fi is the same hot-spot service available all over the UK, and you must pay out the nose for it. So, the offer of Wi-fi is also basically false. As for breakfast, this is brought up on a tray, but it came an hour earlier than requested (he knocks on the door and wakes you up). There is no place to put the tray, or to actually eat, but on your own lap or the bed. The beds are beds, and what one would expect for the price, as is the bathroom facility. Conclusion: Be Wary

this is the worst hotel I ever stayed at so far. the rooms were dirty, service was lousy, to we were served breakfast in skittne cups! I thought I paid too much for the conditions on site. this is not a hotel I am going to use several times, to I nor to recommend this to others.

The price is good but all those photos on the website do not represent the real deal!The room was not clean when we arrived. There werer no clean towels. The courtains were falling, I had to fixed them. The rug was dirty. The window din't have lock. They gave me no receipt nor bill for what I payed.The main entrance doesn't have a lock, so we were not completely safe from robbery.They don''t do daily houskeeping!We asked for Coffee on the breakfast and they said yes but never brought it.Anyway, location is great, just a few blocks from Victoria Station and, they received us off hours before the check in time.
