Pros: I found the hotel to be surprisingly good. it was the last night of a 2-week european tour before we headed home to the uk, so i booked it in a rush and was not too bothered about looking for an amazing hotel.
we had some dodgy hotels on our trip so i wasn't holding out much hope for what was, in effect, the cheapest hotel of our trip. however, i was pleasantly surprised. chateau de namur was an excellent find. the staff were very helpful and happy (which, let's face it, is important: no-one likes grumpy service, and we'd had some of that throughout france and italy!), and although there had been problems taking my booking initially the hotel were excellent in communicating and held our reservation for us without deposit.
and as we waited in the bar for our room to become ready the manager came over and introduced himself in a very friendly way, and wanted to make sure everything was ok for us. you expect this in small family-run or boutique hotels but not from a large hotel like this, so that was very welcoming.
the restaurant had excellent food and wine. i thought maybe it was slightly on the expensive side but i have no complaints - the chef is clearly a professional; the food tasted great and was presented at not-too-far-off michelin star level, in my opinion.
all in all, we had a great stay and thank you to cedric and the staff for making the last night of our holiday much more bearable!
