The Armadores de Santander Hotel rises in a majestic way, with decorative motifs which remind of the wonderful sea region of Spain.
... Lees MeerThe shield of the city of Santander rises up in the highest part of the building, right on the front side.
The Hotel is made of three buildings, different coloured. The first one has an eclectic architecture, the second building with Roman fronton and Corinth columns, both built at the end of the 19th century. On the colossal entrance gate are engraved the initials J.C., coinciding with the builder and the building's owner, José Cabrero Mier.
The hotel takes its name from the fact that this building was in the past office for important ship-owners, among which we mention the Count of Mortera, the owner of a ships fleet of trade and removal of troops from the harbour of Santander and Cuba.
