Hotel Nazionale Venice  

This hotel is situated conveniently close to the train & bus station and on one of the main busy thoroughfares of Venice, which we liked. At night Venice goes quiet but the street this hotel is on still offers plenty of restaurants and the all important ice cream parlours (Gelateria) to choose from and wander around. Though a busy area, noise was not a problem when in the room. The room itself was very small and a bit dated (we expected this from Venice) but the bathroom was well appointed and clean. The air conditioning did not work, only hot air! Opened windows for air instead but meant being bitten by mosquitoes at night. The breakfast fulfilled basic needs but could be improved...only ever cheap white breads available, coffee ALWAYS cold...just sitting there in a jug it would be, fruit salad never looked fresh and only croissants with pre-filled marmalade in them - what if you hate marmalade, like me!! Besides that, at least it was something to start the day. I would recommend this hotel if you want something that serves its purpose without over-delivering. Don't come with high expectations. Our stay was pleasant, the hotel was clean and conveniently located.

Pros: Very close to rail station and water buses. efficient booking in and room ready at 10.30 in morning! room small but adequate for two day stay. breakfast good. very reasonable price for venice if on a budget. easy walk to quiet areas on north of city.

Pros: Hotel was located very close to the train station (right down the street). the neighborhood the hotel was located in was very nice, and it's right on one of the main walkways through venice which made traveling to st. marks square easy. the rooms were tiny, but clean.
