The Halkin Hotel, located near Hyde Park Corner and Park Lane with the elegance of Belgravia, opened its doors in 1991 and has been respected since for its sophistication, unrivaled standards of service and contemporary style. Christina Ong created and owns the Halkin along with sister hotel, the Metropolitan on Park Lane. Laboratorio Associati, studio of the Milanese team Rocco Magnoli and Lorenzo Carmellini, designed the post-modern decor. Bvlgari toiletries are offered in each guest bathroom and the staff uniforms are designed by Giorgio Armani. The Halkin pays incredible attention to every detail. Each of the rooms and suites provides individually controlled air conditioning, three telephone lines, voice mail system, modem facility, personal facsimile machine, sophisticated lighting systems, CD player, video player, cable and satellite television, private bar, Egyptian cotton bed linens, bathrobes, Bvlgari bathroom toiletries, an anti-mist bathroom mirror and a personal safe. Additional ammenities available upon request include laptop computers, mobile phones and printers. The Halkin Hotel received awards such as the Egon Ronay Hotel of the Year 1995, RAC Blue Ribbon Award, AA 4 Red Star Award, Bloomberg Television Best Hotel in London 1998 and Michelin Star 1995-1999. The Halkin News announced that Nahm was the first Thai restaurant to be awarded the Michelin Star. Both the Halkin Hotel and Nahm receive excellent press, stating the Thai restaurant was awarded a worthy 4-star rating and Harrison Brown loves it. He states the hip, small hotel has intimacy and class, nicely nestled in Belgravia with atmospheric rooms and a well-equipped, superb restaurant. Halkin offers a discreet little getaway from it all.
