Very good place to discover Amsterdam, between Jordaan district and Dam Place. The staff is very nice. The stairs are very impressive and there is no elevator, but excellent value for money. Rooms with view on the back are more quiet. The inclusive breakfast is very correct...

I appreciate very much our stay, the service was impeccable, very nice people. Breakfast fantastic, the difficulty is to climb the staircase at the end of the day! ...

Only minute away from Damn square, and walking distance from the central station. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were offered welcome tea on arrival which was lovely as it was raining outside. Buffet breakfast was good. Room was clean with basic facilities. TV was very large but was showing no programmes. Should provide shampoo instead of combined shower gel & shampoo liquid.

They have a very good location, in the middle of downtown, but I think is a little bit expensive related with their rooms quality, they're too small. Also, the guy in the reception wasn't very nice (the girl was). Breakfast was very simple but at least it was something

We were 3. Didn't expect anyshing special, but Clemens exeded our expectations! Small price, comfortable and cosy room with fireplace - very Amsterdamic place))). Our thanks to staff for warm welome, welcome drink and exellent breakfast! The hotes i located in the center but not on busy street, has a wonderful terrace with Royal palace view. Recoment it to all my friends and relatives.

We only spent one night at Hotel Clemens but would happily return next time we are in Amsterdam. The location is amazing, just a short tram ride from Centraal train station. It is very close to lots of cafes, bars and restaurants and the service was very good. Breakfast was included and was more than we expected! A very nice change from other hotels we've experienced. The room was very charming with an ensuite bathroom and overlooked the streets below. As our stay was very short (approx 12 hours) I don't have much else to say. I highly recommend Hotel Clemens.

This hotel has a strategic position ... two minutes Dam Square and then the link with all the trams .... the breakfast is great and the balcony where it is simply wonderful. Standard rooms are a bit tiny but a couple are more than necessary;) The shared bathroom is very clean and always smelling. the lords of the reception are very available.Maria Chiara

We spent one night at Hotel Clemens. We got the train from the airport and then walked to the hotel (about 15 mins), we could have got a tram which takes 2 mins. The stairs are very steep, but we only had small bags and the very friendly girl receptionist came down and offered to help carry them up. Check in was easy and we were offered a cool drink and a city map. We had booked a room with a shared bathroom, but were upgraded to one with a private bathroom.The room was a good size with a double bed and one single. The bed was very comfy with nice clean crisp sheets.We walked to Ann Franks house which is 5 mins away, and then walked through Dam Square and the red light district (all within 10 mins walk).During the night the church bell rang on the hour, it woke us, but we went straight back to sleep, so it wasn't a problem. Breakfast was in a lovely area in reception, with tables out on the balcony and fresh flowers on each table, nice selection of pastry's and cold meat, cheese etc. We got the tram (2 min walk to stop) back to the station to go to the airport. I am so glad we chose to stay our one night in town, everything was very easy.The hotel is excellent value for money and in a great position, I would highly recommend it. The male receptionist wasn't outwardly friendly, but answered our questions efficiently.

I stayed in a single -bed room. The room was tiny...the bed, a sink, and a small flat screen TV on the wall. The shared toilet and shower room (each in its own separate closet-type room) are also small and cramped. The stairway up to the room was steep. On the positive side, the receptionist was helpful, there was a simple breakfast provided (juice, milk, coffee, cheese, little tomatoes, croissants and bread rolls, one type of cold cereal and fruit) and the location is pretty good. One thing to be aware of, parking on the street isn't easy to find...and it's very expensive (5 euro per hour). Parking meter hours on the street are typically from 9 AM until midnight. If you're bringing a car, you might consider dropping it off at the main arena (outside the city) and taking a tram to the hotel. The cost for parking at the arena is 6 euros per day...and the tram is about 2 1/2 euros one way. If you use the tram during your staway, you can get a one ride ticket, a 24 hour ticket (that's what I did) or a weekly ticket. You might also want to consider renting a bicycle to get around Amsterdam (people bicycle all over the city)...there are many bicycle rental shops around Amsterdam(and you can get discount coupons from your hotel).

This hotel is very central, with clean / comfortable rooms and the couple that own / run it are very friendly and helpful! The hotel does have VERY steep stairs upon entry from outside to get to reception and then to your room depending which floor you are on, so it is not suitable for people with mobility problems or perhaps if you have young chidren or buggies!The breakfast is not great, but the hotel is ideal for people just to use as their base for exploring Amsterdam - it is very central to Dam Square, Anne Frank's House, Madame Tossaud's and Centraal Station.

The hotel is about 15 mins walk from central station or 5 minutes on Tram number 13 or 17 from outside central station (cost 2.70euro). The hotel has a steep stairs on entry and is the only small neagative. The guy checking us in offered us a compllimentry drink and was very informative and helpful t throughout our stay. We stayed in a ttriple room which was just big enough but all we needed it fr was to sleep, our on bathroom and showerr and a flat screen TV. The breakfast was selction of cheeses , eggs , meat and pastries - tean and coffee so it was fine as continental breakfasts are. The hotel is 2 mins walk away from anne frank house, 5 mins walk away frmo Dam Sqaure and is perfect location as tif you wanted to hire a paddle boat on the canal then take a left and they are for hire at the second bridge, 1 min walk away.All in all we were delighted with the location, price and quality of the hotel and would reccommend it, the only downside is the steep stairs on entry but you willfind this alot in amsterdam

Very good location, service, staff and cleanliness. Hotel is in traditional Dutch building so accessibility to the lobby and room floors are by steep stairways.

Hotel Clemens is ideally located in Amestrdam and offers great value to the traveller.The staff are eceptionally friendly and I would definitely recommend this Hotel for a short stay.

i stayed in room number 8 which is a single room very clean and tidy , and to my surprise i had a balcony !!, the tv looked brand new samsung lcd i think. the room was small but once everything was packed away there was plenty room and very cosy, big fluffy carpets. the shared bathroom is on the halway next to the room as is the shower cubicle and again the shower was excellent very powerful and good heat settings. the customer service was first class and i got checked into my room before the stated time which was a nice touch, oh and the location is spot on , this has got to be the best budget hotel i have stayed in. as the title says JUST STAY HERE you won't be dissapointed. A very cosy and nice place with a very friendly and helpful staff. Good coffee, delicious breakfast starting as early as at 7:30, fresh flowers in rooms and in breakfast room! The owners are aesthetics who offer their guests all the best.

Very good location for exploring the sites of Amsterdam. The stairs can be quite a challenge, just don,t look down.Rooms were clean and the breakfast buffet was excellent

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.It is a good budget hotel and the person on reception was very helpful offering us a drink when we arrived and letting us leave our luggage because we had arrived early.We also had an upgrade.the location is good just behind Dam square and there is a supermarket for supplies just on the corner.Despite being in central A msterdam the noise is minimal.If you like an authentic Dutch house then this is for you ,even the steep staircases added to the enjoyment.The breakfast was a typical dutch breakfast which we enjoy when you are in Amsterdam you should eat what they do.At the end of our stay they allowed us to leave our luggage and they were very polite and efficient.We look forward to staying there again.

Cons: Incorrect info provided re: morning reception opening time & breakfast time (7.30am was stated on website & confirmed by evening reception staff)
the actual opening time turned out to be 8.30am - which meant that when i had to leave the hotel at 8am, it was without a breakfast and without my key deposit (i was told i'd receive the deposit via post but it has not yet arrived)

note on reception provided a number to call 'in case of emergency' - there was no response for quite some time.
eventually i spoke with someone who i felt could have been more helpful (e.g. there was no apology for giving wrong info etc)

Pros: Fantastic location for a visit. so central! friendly staff and helpful. good breakfast, good clean simple room ideal for a short visit. would recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again.
Cons: Stairs would be difficult for some people but it is not hidden on the website. credit card facilities are not available in the hotel and in lots of places in holland so bring your cash.only minor details as our stay was pleasant!
