The Côte d’Or refers to both the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. This is a narrow escarpment squeezed between a plain to the southeast and a plateau to the northwest. Travelers come to stay in Côte d’Or hotels for one major reason – the wine. The golden-reddish soil of the area produces some of the finest grapes in Central France. Beaune is all ramparts and encircling boulevards. Côte d’Or’s Museum of the Wine of Burgundy is in Beaune. As well, you can visit the Hôtel Dieu. The roof tiles are the multi-colored hue found in burgundy. The hospice also features a Gothic fireplace in its kitchen as well as a pharmacy. In the Collégiale Notre Dame, you can see several 15th century woolen and silk tapestries.
