The province of Perugia is located in the central Italian region of Umbria. The smallest of its five regional parks is Colfiorito Park, in the town of Foligno, created to protect an important wetlands area. The capital city of the province, also called Perugia, is a major artistic center in Italy and houses another one of the oldest universities in the country, founded in 1308. There are a number of archaeological remains within the city limits, dating to around the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC, as well as ancient city walls that date to between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC that surround the historical center; another layer of defensive walls are also visible, built in the Middle Ages. In October, the capital hosts Eurochocolate, a festival of chocolate. While in the province, you should also visit the town of Città di Castello; attractions here include a number of museums and Renaissance-style buildings.
