The province of Rimini is located in the northern Italian region of Emilia Romagna; it is bathed on the east by the Adriatic Sea. The majority of the province is flat, though there are some small mountainous zones in the west and in the southwest. The capital city, also called Rimini, has become a very popular tourist destination for its long, wide beaches and numerous seaside establishments. Other Rimini attractions include the Madonna della Misericordia in Santa Chiara Sanctuary, built in the 14th century, as well as the Tempio Malatestiano, the main church of the city, built in the 15th century. There are a number of archaeological remains in the city as well, including the Roman amphitheater, the Augustinian Arch, and the Bridge of Tiberius. You should also head to some of the smaller towns of the province to visit their castles, towers, and churches dating to the 1100's. If you’re on the lookout for an entertaining weekend, Rimini could be perfect.
