Holiday Villa Lafayette Paris

Pros: The receptionist was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Where do i start? the hotel had changed it's name by the time i arrived. apparently it had changed some weeks ago, but this hadn't been updated. the pictures on the website were certainly not those of the hotel. the facilities were poor to say the least - the shower/bath were grotty. the water was cold or tepid depending on your taste, but it was not acceptable. i received confirmation to say that i had paid via email, although upon arrival i was told the payment had not gone through. the whole thing was very dubious. after taking payment (for the first or second time - i gave up at some point) the receptionist proceeded to take my card details. i queried why this was needed given that payment had gone through, the answer given is anyone's guess. the hotel was beyond expensive for the services and room provided. i would certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone, it was a most unpleasant experience and highly disappointing. this, from a regular camper, says it all....

Pros: The reception staff are amazingly helpful, sweet and will give fantastic recommendations for cheap places where the locals eat fabulous food. there is also a lift to all floors and a fridge in the room. rooms are well done although small but kept spotless. location is fantastic, only about 10-15 mins by taxi to eurostar. close to the metro and on a good line with great connections there is a wide range of cheaper clothing shops and supermarkets in the area. you are spoilt for choice with cafes and resturants.
