Hotel Piazza Venezia Rome  

Pros: We found the hotel better than the reviews we had read before we went. the staff were quite friendly and the rooms were small but quite clean and had everything we needed. the location was excellent and all the main attractions were within walking distance of the hotel and the buses were always there as a back up.
Cons: The hotel is very noisy but this has to be expected given is location on a very, very busy main road. the noise never stops and does make sleeping difficult even with ear plugs. the air con is a central system not individual to the room so you need to leave the window closed to get the benifit but it is fairly efficient.

Pros: The hotel is located in a central location
Cons: I dont know if our room was typical of all of the bedrooms at this hotel, but our experience was was very poor and i find it hard to justify the 3 star rating. firstly, the air conditioning is centrally controlled and 'ancient' - it was hardly adequate for the august heat. the shower room was cramped, had black mould on the walls and it was impossible to have a shower without flooding this room and the bedroom. there are no drawers and only one hanging rail with 6 coathangers - which might be fine for one or two nights only but we were there for longer and i would have liked to 'unpack'. the mini bar was not cold and the tv has no english speaking channels. there was more black fungal growth in the bedroom. initially the room had 2 hand towels, 2 bath towels and a bath mat but from day 2 onwards the number of towels left reduced until the maids stopped coming to service the room at all. having spoken to reception staff, the only one who appreared to respond or care was the young man. he did bring us towels but explained that even though the manager knew that the maid service was unreliable - there was nothing he could do about them! it was such a disappoinment and i so envied the people we met who were staying at hotels they were happy with!

Pros: Location in walking distance to all sights. had upgraded from basic to superior room so had comfy bed, rooms nice and warm, (though maybe too warm in summer) and had maid service each day .
Cons: Staff not overly friendly, no amenities in hotel eg restaurant, bar etc. even though paid for upgrade to room over piazza, bathroom stil was tiny with a half size bath and tiny wc! no tea making faciity either. was noisy but didn't bother us as we knew upgrade would be overlooking piazza so expected some noise.

Pros: Nice location, easy walk to most sites
Cons: Attempted to check sister in to a second room, a couple of days into our stay. concierge demanded to see everyone's passports even though we had been staying at the hotel, and coming and going as we pleased for three days.

requested information on restaurants. concierge was unable to explain suggestions. then proceeded to becoming very angry and threatened to throw us out of the hotel.

then returned to room and 15 minutes later, a man arrived whom was supposed to be staying in our room. was horrified that they could clearly not keep track of their bookings. furthermore was concerned about how easily he gained access to our room and belongings.

n$o breakfast facilities, nor tea or coffee facilities.

Cons: Arrived at hotel and they had no record of our booking. eventually this was sorted, we had to change rooms after first night. when paying for hotel, clerk wanted to charge 100 euro more than i was quoted. even when i should her my confirmation email with quotation price she did not believe me. i found her manner and the way in which she dealt with the complaint very unprofessional. the issue was sorted after about 10mins of me trying to convince her that i was quoted a certain price.

Pros: The location is excellent
Cons: The bathrooms are awful

Pros: Can't beat the location - right in the centre of everything. clean and good value for money.
Cons: If it had been any warmer outside, the room would have been too hot because there doesn't seem to be any aircon. bathroom flooded quite a bit but it's absolutely fine if you're not looking for luxury and want a good hotel in the centre.

Pros: Great location great price

Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the room very quiet. just what we needed before our return trip where we had to get up at 4:30am.
Cons: The room was very difficult to find, hallway signage is very poor. two separate buildings were combined to create the hotel. the elevator takes you to the 4th floor, then you go down to find your room on the 5th floor. other than that, it's a great location. i'd stay there again.

Cons: Air conditioning was not working! not possible to activate it from your room, it's gotta be made by the reception! and they just never turned it on!
by 30 degrees celsius, and when you come from the cold, believe me it's tough!
very noisy hotel... isolation is bad, and it's just in front of a very busy street!

Pros: This hotel is in aperfect location for visitors onm ahort break to rome.it ie easily accessible from the termini by foot or bus.buses stop outside the hotel.although the hotel doesn't have tea/coffee facilities there are cafes at street level. the rooms are well maintained and very clean.
Cons: Not sure if hotels in italy generally have tea/coffee making equipment in rooms.

Pros: Location, location, location. central to all the sites, we walked everywhere from here.
Cons: Bed was rock hard but just about tolerable.
