We stayed for three nights and I alerted them I had a baby when I made the reservation. I never heard back and I wish they had taken more consideration of my alert. Our room was on the top floor of a walk up, and the only ventilation was a low window without any screens or safety bars. Not ideal for a family with a baby. But, whatever... It was cheap, in a prime location and they included breakfast. It's a hostel, so don't stay there if you are expecting more!!

Unsuitable for people with vertigo, asthma or lots of luggage! Typical Dutch house with very steep stairs. Couldn't help think of the fire risks involved!Staff tried to be helpful but English was a struggle. Manager was available when requested to speak to him.Great location here, but noisy so take ear plugs!Room 6 not worth a look. Room 7 better. The location and views here though are amazing. Given all the 'cons' of this hotel, it wins by virtue of being in the epicentre of Amsterdam and by being affordable!

Pros: Good location, nice view from the room and a freindly receptionist
Cons: I was not to happy that they charged my credit card the day before i arrived,then as they told me there was a 5 per cent charge to use the card i paid cash.eventually they refunded my card however i lost nearly 10% with the change in exchange rate .are they allowed to do this.

Pros: It´s well located, with a nice view to the canal. the owner was very helpfull, giving us all the information we needed in a nice way. considering the price, it was a good place to sleep over.

Pros: Although the veteran may not be the most beautiful place to stay in amsterdam, this is certainly compensated by the friendliness of the staff and the excellent location. although the exterior and interior of the hotel / hostel is very dated, it was clean and comfortable... which is all that i expected. i would definitely visit the veteran again.

Pros: The only good thing regarding the hotel is the location
although it was very noisy in the early hours of the morning.
Cons: Apart from the very steep stairs inside and outside the
building, the room was in need of a good clean and i was bitten by bed bugs. there is no reason why this problem can not be resolved but i suppose you only get what you pay for

Cons: The pictures on the website are nothing like what you get at the hotel.first impression, it was a flea pit,with mice running round outside,couldnt belieive what we got for our money,bathroom and toilet area, disgusting,and the room was so small we had to move out of each others way to move around the small space which we had.but idel for one person who wanted to be in amsterdam for a weekend just drinking and sleeping,in a prime spot for all bars etc.

Pros: Good value for money, ideal if you just need a place to sleep and get out and about during the day.
Cons: Bathroom not the cleanest, pretty noisy place and not very well maintained but for the costs, overall not bad.

Pros: Good value for money and a good location for bars and coffeshops.
Cons: Could do with a good clean and a coat of paint wouldn't hurt. would have liked it more if there was tea and coffee in room, or just a kettle would have been nice.
