VP Jardin de Recoletos Madrid    

We stayed at Jardin de Recoletos for almost a week and were very pleased with the quality of the accommodations. The room was spacious and clean, the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was well equipped. The staff were very courteous, from reception, porters, cleaning staff to room service. The kitchen was equipped with everything but a sharp knife to cut bread or cheese, but when we asked room service for a cutting knife, one was promptly provided. Our room overlooked the garden restaurant with water fountain. At the time of our stay the hotel had switched off their a/c to heating so we would open the balcony door to vent the room however the fountain was often too loud to keep the door open and the guests staying in the room underneath were smoking on the balcony and the smoke would fill our room - this was the only things we has some issue with. The hotel also has a garage for parking, but we found that expensive (it cost us more to park the car than the daily car rental). The hotel is located near the Salamanca area with great shopping and higer-end restaurants, but is also walking distance from Madrid Sol (some 20 min). All in all, we were satisfied with our stay and would recommend it to others.

This hotel was fantastic! From the moment we arrived staff were so helpful providing a map with where to eat, shop, parks, art galleries.The room was fab and even had self catering facilities available. We had just finished a stage of The Camino and really appreciated the luxurious surroundings! I would def recommend this hotel. Less than 5 mins walk to serrano metro which goes to airport.

I took my husband to Madrid for a birthday surprise to watch Real Madrid and picked the Jardin de Recoletos because of it's location. Halfway between the Santiago Bernabeu and the main city centre, the hotel was absolutely perfect and very reasonably priced.Before going, we had no idea what to expect from Madrid as the whole trip was based around the football experience. Madrid does have plenty to offer though and so we'd happily return again. Anyone going should prepare themselves for the number of beggars on the streets, there's loads! Buy yourself a metrobus ticket and it entitles you to ten trips on the underground. Only costs around 11 euros.The cable car ride at Arguelles is well worth a visit 5.50 euros each for an 11 minute ride across part of Madrid. At the top you can sit in the restaurant and look out over the Madrid skyline. The Hard Rock cafe is just around the corner from the hotel and has some very friendly staff. Ullysses Irish Pub on Calle de Fellipe III is brilliant, shows Sky Sports and has some great staff too. The food there is excellent too and cheaper than some other nearby establishments.Make sure you take a walk around one of the many parks in Madrid. On a warm summers day, there's no better way to enjoy the relaxed spanish attitude to life. The best park is Parque del Retiro with its boating lake.As for the football, well the Bernabeu stadium is very impressive and although the tickets were expensive, you do need to be quick when buying them online. I chose to buy them direct from the club but they only come on sale a week before the game so be vigilant! The stadium tour is also recommended. £16 each and you get to go everywhere. Dressing rooms, press conference room, pitch side and in the dugouts, trophy room, museum and more.One last tip! If you're going for the football and fancy dressing for the occasion, buy a Madrid shirt in england before you leave. The shirts were on sale in Madrid for 75 euros (£62). You can buy the same shirt over here for £40-45 so don't get sucked in!

The hotel is located in an excellent location - near a beautiful park and the main museums the breakfast is very good and healthy - stuff very friendly and helpful internet access in the room is not always working properly but staff is very good to assist and at the end I was able to access my emails easily Quite hotel in the centre of one of the best area in Madrid - great shopping and restaurants around - highly recommended

Pros: Excellent hotel situated in a quieter part of madrid but very near to all the major sites. rooms were excellent,service from all personnel excellent. would highly recommend this hotel. if i do return to madrid, i will want to stay here again.

Pros: The hotel is well located in a quiet side street, within walking distance of the major tourist sites in madrid. if arriving by taxi, it is advisable to take a map to show the driver. the staff are very friendly and the breakfast buffet is good. as an aparthotel, the room was very spacious with a fitted kitchen, sofa and coffee table, in addition to the 2 large single beds. both room and bathroom were clean and tidy.
Cons: Charging extra for the use of the room safe seems a bit petty for a 4* hotel.
