This budget hotel is excellent value for visitors to London, providing clean basic but well equipped rooms which have televisions, tea and coffee making facilities, and fridges. There are also a communal kitchen with cooker, microwave, utensils, and crockery, and and a large private back garden with seating. A budget traveller can therefore save a lot of money through self catering here. Staff are friendly and helpful. Transport facilities are very frequent and central London is less than half an hour away by bus and tube or train. There is ample free parking for cars in surrounding streets. I shall return.

I think this hotel gives ok value for maney. The room was basic but clean, and so were the bathrooms and kitchen. I wanted to check in at 1pm, as advertised on the website, but I had to wait for about 30 minutes because it hadn't been cleaned yet when I got there. There's no reception, so if you have any questions, you need to ring them up or ring the front door bell. I hadn't been told how to check out, so early in the morning I rang the door bell and then someone popped his head out of the window and told me to drop the key in the letter box. Friendly enough, but it would have made life easier if I'd been told in advance.

If you want a clean, basic good value for money room one step up from a youth hostel then this is the hotel for you, it is a good 20 minutes walk from Manor House tube which is zone 2.I was a little uncomfortable walking round the area at night, best to not have any luggage and to keep your London A-Z out of sight otherwise it attracts undesirables to follow you and offer you assistance :-(Other than that I cannot complain, except to say if you need an invoice/receipt to claim expenses it is best to do it while at the Hotel as I sadly forgot and I am still waiting :-(

This is a bad hotel.When I arrived, the manager opened the door and rudely questioned who I was. I had a reservation, but it was apparently unbeknownst to him at the time. he guided me to a room, and started to yell at me about how I was too early to check in (I arrived 12:30 and check in was at 13:00) I was tired and sweaty from walking through the city all morning and just wanted to rest. he shouted that I should leave again to go into the city and come back in a few hours. I didn't want to leave, he said: I don't like people just loitering around here, and after a while he made rude gestures that I should just go and wait in the garden. After the beligirent talking to i proceeded to ask him. "Are you mad?" after which he said "No, I am not mad" go figure.Anyway, satyed here 3 days, never was my room cleaned, bed made or did I get a fresh towel. Somehow the maid did find it important to empty my trash can which only held a chewing gum. go figure again.Also one of the 2 showers, only has way too warm water, the person who can shower under this is very brave.When you want to check out, good luck finding the reception. I still have no clue. had to leave my key at a dude I met after a while in the garden who seemed to work there.I'll never go budget again after this experience., seriously.

Nice rooms, clean, poor sound isolation. Have a good location with bus near. We like the nice garden. Have a nice kitchen also.

Nice trip near to most needed things and communication with bus. underground and train. Its 10 min from seven sister underground to oxford street, the victoria line. Its an old but very nice B&B.

My gf and I arrived at the Amhurst Hotel not expecting too terribly much in the way of accommodations since we knew that we were looking for an economic place to stay rather than, say, the Hilton. We arrived 1 and a half hours ahead of check-in with our luggage...we merely wished to see if a room was available and if we could at least store our bags before going back into the city to start sight seeing. The man who owns the hotel was VERY rude about it and started quizzing us on what time check in was and giving us a talking to about how people can't expect to get their rooms if they arrive early. It was 1130 and check in was 1300 by the way. I have never received that kind of treatment from the get go. I wrote it off initially, but then I asked if I could use his land line phone in order to confirm a pickup for a tour that we were wanting to take the next day. He dialed the number for me and then sat and watched me make the call after grumbling that he could only let me make a quick call. We got our rooms, but one of our bags had not arrived with us from the US so I informed him that it would probably arrive the next day. We were on our tour to Bath/Salisbury/Stonehenge when I decided to follow up on the bag situation. I called him using a very pleasant gentleman's phone. I asked the man who owned the hotel if our bags had arrived and he snapped that nothing had arrived and then hung up on me. I called back because I figured that I had been cut off, after which he said "I already told you, nothing's arrived today!" and that was all he would say. So...if you don't mind very rude service that doesn't really care about your needs, won't change out your towels and only changes out your garbage can, then that's fine. Also, the toilet sometimes did not flush...which could cause some bad situations as you can imagine. Additionally, the shower was very bad at times and literally sometimes you had to take a cup and pour water over your head. I've stayed in worse conditions, but this was NOT what I had in mind. On top of all that, it's in the very north part of London pretty removed from the action in central London and it's also in a very ethnic religious community which I have no problem with whatsoever, but if you are planning on walking over to a nice pub to get a drink before heading to bed...forget it. You have to travel a little ways by the Underground to get to anything good and then travel back afterwards. I have received MUCH better from hostels.

Good traffic although distant from the city center. There are train station, bus station, and underground station near the hotel, which will drive you to city center within 20 minutes. A microwave machine helped us be able to cook by ourselves. A beautiful garden and dining room for eating. Although the room is not large, but it's already big enough for us.

When I checked in, the first thing I was told was: you haven't paid yet.The money had been off my credit card for several months and I can tell you that right then and there I was in quite of a shock.After that problem was resolved I was taken to my room.I booked a single room with a private bathroom/shower, but I got a teny-tiny room with a sink.A shower was across the hall, but...only cold water. I had it running for 10 minutes, but no hot water came through.So I had to go to the bathroom downstairs, wich had a bathtub. Unfortunately I have not seen that bathroom in a clean state during my 4 night stay. It was always full of towels, water and other people's hair. While showering the water temperature changed constantly.The room itself was dusty and was never cleaned during my stay.I got 2 towels on my first day, one of them had a big stain.I did not get new towels during my stay.The garbage was never emptied. On my departure i had a huge pile of garbage in my room.The bed was old and uncomfortable, I always woke up with back pain.The closet was full of dust and dirt and crumbs.The rug was full of hair.The little fridge in the room was not cleaned in a long, long time.The hotel is very confusing...I always wandered around like in a labirinth to find my room and even accidently entered another room thinking it was mine. The guy who works there - Jim - is not the nicest guy I have met. He is rude, he makes silly and insulting jokes...he even tried to "flirt"...yuck!The lock on my room's door was not safe. I could have easily been opened with a credit card. Not very helpful if you want to get a good night sleep without fear that someone will enter your room.All that for 35 Pounds a night. RIDICULOUS!!!!The only nice thing about this hotel was Tom the cat living in the backyard.
