Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport Hotel  

After researching previous reviews, I soon ascertained that the hotel generally received a good rating; its downfall being the caliber of its food service. Taking that on board, I booked one night while in transit and planned on taking my meals elsewhere. On arrival, staff were reasonably efficient but made no effort to engage with me or share a smile. Check-in was perfunctory with directions to the restaurant as a postscript. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable and apart from the noise emanating from the airport, had no faults. Thankfully, arrivals and departures seem to be suspended between 11pm and 6am. I then went in search of nearby restaurants only to find there were none. I debated eating at another hotel but the cold biting wind drove me back to the warmth of my own room. Once renewed and refreshed, I went down to the restaurant and was confronted with automatons. Staff looked decidedly unhappy and were not the least interested in paying me any mind. I asked for a menu and was directed to a reserved section to be the lone diner. Another couple arrived a few minutes after me and were seated in a different section and were served long before my waitress approached me for my order. I found the menu to have limited options so opted on the soup du jour and a Chicken Caesar Wrap. The soup was a pureed melange of vegetables with no seasoning; uninspiring blandness at its best. The wrap was without doubt the worst example of a Caesar Salad in a flour tortilla I have ever experienced anywhere in the world. I can only concur with the myriad of other guests who have posted their observations on this hotel; it's good value and quality for the money but the food service is abysmal and the staff hospitality is below industry average. If management learns to inspire the staff and create an atmosphere of positivity and happiness while remedying the inadequacy of the food service, then this could be an excellent hotel.

Close to the airport, shuttle-service (for no extra charge), nice and clean rooms, helpful staff... - that was what we were looking for, and everything worked out great. We really enjoyed our brief stay in this hotel!

Front desk staff were civil, but not as hospitably welcoming as experienced in other places. Bar bistro was busy, but food in the end was lukewarm.

My room was great! Beds are a little hard, and the shower head wasn't very good, but other than that room m service were great!
