Travelodge Phoenix Park Dublin  

I booked this hotel I have stayed in several travelodges in the UK and Ireland and have always found the rooms to be adequate and the staff to be helpful and friendly.However this is one travelodge I will certainly be avoiding and in all honesty the experience has put me off the chain of hotels slightly. On my arrival the staff were extremely rude. I was shocked to find that this was the case throughout my whole stay. If I had to choose 3 words to describe all 4 members of staff I came into contact with I would say rude, unhelpful and miserable. My room was quite small(although not a problem for me), the bathroom was filthy and looked like it had not been cleaned for months (especially the toilet), the electricity in the hotel was out for 1 of the mornings during my visit.I could go into so much detail as my stay here was terrible! Unfortunately though I would be here all day so would like to keep it short. I have also stayed in lots of hotels in the Uk and Ireland and some of them have not been as nice as others but I have never written a review on any of the not so nice ones. This was so bad that I felt compelled to write something on here.

Pros: The receptionist went out of her way to accommodate us in a groundfloor room when asked and was very pleasant.
Cons: The adjoining restaurant left a lot to be desired.e.g. no cereal of any kind available for breakfast on sat a.m.and the mirrors in the room are in a poor state.also tea & coffee& milk, etc left in mugs ie no tray to put wet spoons, etc down except on a polished wood surface.

Cons: Check-in from 15:00 is a bit too late
restaurant available only till 14:00 and no information about it when booking

Cons: Hotel staff, unorganised

Pros: Easy to find

Pros: Nice and quiet. clean.

Pros: Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Cons: When we arrived into our room there was mold and damp on the ceiling. to get to the local shops in castleknock was not very pedestrian safe.

Pros: Travelodge and metzo staff both very friendly. very clean. one of the most pleasant places i have ever stayed in.
Cons: There wasn't any negative aspects, we very much enjoyed our stay.

Pros: The staff were really helpful and happy to answer all our questions.
our room was a large family room with a double bed and a pull out sofa bed, it was very clean and supplies such as coffee and towels were replenished daily.
the hotel was on a major road out of dublin and buses passed every ten minutes right outside making it easy and cheap to get into the city. the journey only took 20 minutes.
Cons: The food in the restaurant was rather expensive.
the road outside the hotel which had to be crossed when returning on the bus from dublin was very busy so it was best to get off the stop just after the travelodge as traffic was a little slower there.

Cons: No orderly queue at the booking desk.

Cons: Website stated that breakfast was included in price. it was not and cost extra 30 euro. lack of security, car next to me was broken into, leaving glass lying all around my car. staff didn't even clear up glass, i had to go and request brush and do it myself. non-helpful staff.
no lift - not very convenient for families with small enfants. no baby cot - requested in booking. overall, would not stay in hotel if you paid me. ps also had to pay additional cost to book in early - was not informed of this at time of booking! overall was ripped off!
