Berlin is a colorful and multicultural city, and the Carnival of Cultures celebrates this rich diversity in style. The city also strongly encourages visitors to ‘go green’ when attending the carnival, promoting the use of re-usable dishes and using recycled paper when printing materials.
Berlin’s Carnival of Cultures takes reference from other major festivals, such as Notting Hill Carnival in London and Zomercarnaval in Rotterdam. Many organizations, such as community groups, schools, theaters and bands, are involved in the organization and staging of this massive event. The carnival begins with a street parade, which is followed by a 4 day street festival featuring a range of entertainment, activity and culinary delights. In keeping with the carnival’s purpose, artists from all over the world bring their talents to the Berlin stage for the delight of carnival goers.
