The county and city of Csongrád lie within the Great Afold or Great Hungarian Plain. This is a region for hikers, horseback riding and biking. People also come to hotels in Csongrád for its fine white wines. If they time it right, they will arrive for the Wine and Bread Festival in Csongrád or the Summer Festival in Szeged. Visit one of the many parks, rivers and cultural institutes. In the county seat of Szeged, you can wander the botanical gardens, go boating on the River Tisza or visit the brown-brick, twin-towered, Votive Church. You can stop and listen to the city’s Musical clock or the Water and Music Fountain on the University campus. Check out the romantic style Black House or the Art Nouveau Reök Palace. If you spend more than a weekend, Csongrád can show you Szged’s thermal baths and its unique Salami and Paprika Museum.
