Dublin has the most famous War Memorial Gardens in Europe. The gardens are dedicated to soldiers who have lost their lives in war, namely the 1914-1918 war. Their names are all listed in the granite bookrooms. However, they are not only a place for quiet thought and remembrance of lost ones.
The gardens are beautiful to look at in their own right, with sunken rose gardens, lots of trees planted around the gardens and herbaceous borders. If you like gardens then this is a great place to visit, but it also could be a place to come and remember family that was lost in the war. The gardens are open daily, mainly during daylight hours, and are free to visit.
