Arkansas is geographically listed as one of the South-Central states of the United States, but culturally and traditionally, Arkansas is Deep South. It is below the Mason Dixon Line, and it was part of the Confederacy during the American Civil War. The Battle of Pea Ridge was fought here in 1862.
